Recently we were invited to Vino Volo in Bethesda to try some summer wines and the new summer menu. If you’re not familiar, Vino Volo is a wine bar AND wine shop. Wine is served in the lounge by the flight, glass, or bottle and is accompanied by a coaster with some more information about the wine including a flavor profile that can help you develop your taste preferences over time. When you find one you like you can simply purchase a bottle to take home. It’s actually a lot like going to a winery without going to a winery.
At the event we tried the new summer menu, including a minty watermelon salad, chicken pate, and salmon rolls. In our flight we had the Blanco from Solar Teules, the Veltlinsky from Graf Hardegg, and the Divinity from Jankris Winery. This summer I recommend getting the Divinity and the salmon rolls out on the patio.
And of course, no summer wine night is complete without company; it was great catching up with Carlis from SpicyCandyDC, Jessica of Adventures of the Repatriate, and Vanessa, Casey, and Tammy of DC Wine Week. Cheers!
